Ms. la Cour, a native of Copenhagen, trained in the Bournonville technique at the Ballet School of the Royal Danish Ballet from the age of nine. Her teachers included Erik Bruhn, Hans Brenaa, Stanley Williams and Vera Volkova.
Joining the Royal Danish Ballet at 18, she performed
soloist and principal roles with such noted choreographers as Kenneth
Flindt and Roland
Her extensive choreographic experience includes 3 ballets for the Royal Danish Ballet and five childrens ballets based on the Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales. Having worked with children since 1988, Ms. la Cour brings a world class background and great excitement to TVI's Ballet School.
In December 2007, Ms. la Cour was awarded the Margot Lander Lifetime Acheivement Award for her contirbutions to the world of Ballet.
Miss la Cour has created 5 fairy tale ballets: "Silly Simon", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid" and "The Tinderbox" based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale stories, and "Snow White" based on the Brother's Grimm's fairy tale.
Music for these ballets is by Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, a famous Danish Composer known for his "Ally Cat". The four Hans Christian Andersen ballet costumes and sets were from Bjøern Wiinblad, a famous designer from Denmark.

Lise la Cour started to Choreograph for Opera San Jose in 2004 where productions included: “The Marriage of Figaro” for the opening of California Theatre, “Carmen”, “Eugene Onegin”, “Rigoletto”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”, “Romeo and Juliette”, “Don Giovanni”, “Un Ballo in Maschera”, and “La Traviata”. For the 2012 Opera San Jose Season she will choreograph “Faust”.
From 2002-2012 Ms. la Cour was the School Director for Ballet San Jose. In February 2012, Ms. la Cour formed Lise la Cour's "LaCademy" for elite classes. In March 2012, Ms. la Cour became the Ballet School Director for Dennis Nahat's Theater Ventures International Ballet School.
